چکیده
Background An intrathoracic goiter (ITG) is defined as a thyroid extension below the sternal notch. Compared to cervical goiters, surgery for ITG more challenging, with higher risk of an extracervical approach. Ultrasound (US)-guided radiofrequency ablation (RFA) minimally invasive treatment modality. The purpose this study was prospectively evaluate safety and efficacy RFA in patients ITG.Methods From total 324 who underwent at single medical center, 15 (mean age 52.2 years; 73.3% female) 16 ITGs were included classified into three grades types using cross-section imaging CT system. Clinical features demographics, degree extension, details, volume, complications analyzed. Results Mean pre- post-RFA volumes measured by US 106.62 ± 61.82 25.09 14.22 mL respectively, volume reduction rate (VRR) 75.5% (p < 0.001) 6 months. VRR CT/MRI 57.0 10.0% length months 44.9 39.2% = 0.001). In addition, 4 (25%) had regression downgrade from grade 1 goiter. symptom cosmetic scores 1.53 0.15 0.001), 2.67 2.00 respectively. One patient transient vocal cord palsy another perithyroidal mediastinal hemorrhage. Conclusion US-guided effective terms both reductions acceptable complication rate.

15 صفحه اولRadiofrequency ablation of Barrett's esophagus: short-term results.
BACKGROUND The presence of Barrett's esophagus (BE) increases the risk of esophageal cancer. Total regression of BE is uncommon with medication or laparoscopic fundoplication, and endoscopic techniques to obliterate BE have varied results. This study evaluated the early results of a balloon-based catheter radiofrequency ablation (RFA) system in patients with medically refractory reflux symptoms...
متن کاملSafety and efficacy of laparoscopic radiofrequency ablation for hepatic malignancies
PURPOSE Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is an accepted treatment option for primary and metastatic liver tumors. As percutaneous RFA has some limitations, laparoscopic RFA (LRFA) has been used as a therapeutic alternative for the treatment of hepatic malignancies. METHODS Between March 2006 and September 2009, thirty patients with hepatic malignancies that were contraindicated for resection or ...

Background: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a relatively new procedure for treating benign thyroid nodules. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of RFA for treating benign thyroid nodules so as to serve as a reference for future clinical practice. Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of patients receiving percutaneous RFA for treating thyr...

CONTEXT Unresectable pancreatic cancer has a dismal prognosis. Palliative surgery and chemo-radiotherapy have not produced significant improvement in survival. We evaluated the safety and the efficacy of radiofrequency ablation for cytoreduction of unresectable tumors of the pancreas. CASE REPORT Radiofrequency ablation was performed in three patients with histologically proven unresectable c...
